At the Northwest Creek Marina, we do things differently. Our facility has resort-like amenities and is in a prime location on the Neuse River. Historical Landmarks
New Bern is nestled at the conjunction of the Neuse and Trent Rivers. It’s not just a picturesque destination but also one steeped in history.
As the second-oldest city in North Carolina, it’s home to beautifully preserved architecture, including the iconic Tryon Palace, the state’s first capitol. You’ll also find a selection of museums in the area.
The city’s historic charm, coupled with its serene Neuse River views, make it a great stop for boaters.
Annual Events to Spice Up Your Stay
Not much of a history buff? The Neuse River community has events scheduled all year long, which means that you’ll have plenty to do no matter when you lay anchor at the Northwest Creek Marina.
Here are a few highlights:
MumFest
MumFest is held every October and is one of New Bern’s most anticipated events. This year’s festival is slated for October 12-13. At the festival, you’ll be immersed in a combination of entertainment, exhibitors, attractions, and family fun — with fantastic food along the way, of course.
Over the last few years, the festival has drawn in tens of thousands of attendees, including locals, land-loving tourists, and boat captains. MumFest is held in downtown New Bern, just a short drive away from the Northwest Creek Marina.
Neuse River Days
The Neuse River boating community is one of the most active in the nation. That should come as no surprise, as the Neuse River is the perfect environment for cruising, relaxing, or having some fun on your boat. Throughout the year, the Neuse River plays host to fishing tournaments, environmental education activities, and so much more.
One of our favorite river-centric events is the Footloose on the Neuse Concert Series. The series runs every other Friday, beginning May 24, 2024, and closing out August 30. Each event is held at Union Point Park and begins promptly at 6:30 p.m.
Dive Into the Local Culture
Are you interested in something a little more low-key? If so, the Northwest Creek Marina can serve as the ideal launch point for your daily dives into New Bern. Our marina is a short car ride away from the community’s rich culture and events.
The New Bern Farmers Market takes place every Saturday throughout the year. It’s open from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and gives you a chance to partake in locally grown produce, farm-raised meats, and baked goods.
If you want to indulge in some culinary delights, New Bern’s downtown area has many options to choose from. The Country Biscuit has a laid-back environment and some excellent home cooking. Morgan’s Tavern and Grill and Bay Leaf offer some higher-end dishes and dynamic menus. These are just a few of the great restaurants in New Bern.
Outdoor Adventures
With such an active boating community, there are events going on just about every weekend around the Neuse River. You can rent a kayak and explore the shoreline, go for a hike, or cruise around the river and take in the sights.
